An evening with artist Natalia Mirzoyan

Natalia Mirzoyan is an animation director and artist born in Yerevan, Armenia. Following the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Mirzoyan decided to leave Russia and moved to Estonia, where she continues her creative work.

Her auteur films have received recognition at international film festivals, and her work is characterised by a poetic, sensitive and deeply human perspective. One of her recent notable works is the puppet film Winter in March, which tells the story of emigration following Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The film won third place in the La Cinef competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

In August, Natalia Mirzoyan’s exhibition Observations from Estonia opened at Nõmme House. The exhibition features paintings and drawings that reflect Natalia’s experience of adapting to her new home country. She captures moments that have resonated with her in Estonia: the streets of Nõmme, Tallinn’s urban environment, the changing beauty of nature, and small yet meaningful moments of everyday life. Mirzoyan’s art combines the storytelling skills characteristic of animation with the immediacy and emotional power of painting.

The exhibition can be visited during Nõmme House opening hours (Mon 8:15–18:00, Tue–Thu 8:15–17:00, Fri 8:15–16:00). The exhibition will remain open until the end of September.

On 24 September at 18:00, the artist’s evening will offer an opportunity to explore the exhibition and watch a selection of short films.
