In a new sound. European and Estonian classics arranged for Ukrainian folk instruments

What do great works of European classical music sound like when they are brought to life through the rich and distinctive soundscape of Ukrainian folk instruments? The concert series “In a New Sound” invites audiences to discover familiar music from a fresh perspective, where classical heritage, folk music traditions and innovative creative interpretations come together.

At the heart of the series are beloved classical works arranged for a Ukrainian folk ensemble, highlighting the instruments’ exceptionally colourful timbre, virtuosity and expressive power. The result is a unique soundscape that presents familiar works in a new light and builds a bridge between different cultures and musical traditions.

The stage will feature the folk ensemble Dibrova and the brilliant coloratura soprano Maria Petrov, whose sensitive and virtuosic collaboration brings together classical vocal artistry and the unique soundscape of Ukrainian folk instruments. The concert series offers audiences an opportunity to experience European and Estonian classical music in a fresh, inspiring and emotionally rich way – truly in a new sound.
