SUMMARY:Taste and Pattern: Finno-Ugric Patterns Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Finno-Ugric Patterns Workshop takes place as part of the Tallinn National Cultures Days and is organized by the Youth Chamber of the Association of Nationalities of Estonia, by young people for young people and everyone interested.\nTraditional patterns of the Finno-Ugric peoples are much more than decoration. Each geometric element carries its own story, meaning, and place within cultural heritage. In the handicrafts of the Udmurt, Mari, and other Finno-Ugric peoples, these patterns contain centuries-old symbolism connected to nature, family, and community. \nOur approach is simple: we are not professional artists, but young people sharing what we know and love. The workshop begins with an introduction by young Udmurts, who will explain the origins and meanings of these patterns, where they come from and what they symbolize. We then move on to the practical part, where each participant will create a bookmark decorated with Finno-Ugric patterns. \nThe workshop is open to everyone. No previous experience or drawing skills are required. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a focus on learning together and inspiring one another. \nAt the end of the workshop, you will take home a bookmark decorated with Finno-Ugric patterns that you have created yourself.\nWhat you will gain:\n\nInsight into the history and symbolism of Finno-Ugric folk patterns\nHands-on experience in drawing traditional patterns\nA handmade bookmark featuring Finno-Ugric designs\nAn opportunity to meet young Udmurts who share their cultural heritage\n\nParticipation is free of charge.\n
